Biography
Paul Toigo is an associate at the Cooney Law Offices with experience counseling business entities and their principals on a range of issues, including formation, restructuring, commercial dispute resolution/litigation, and insolvency. Paul joined the Cooney Law Offices in 2024.
Paul previously practiced as a commercial litigator and corporate attorney with multiple firms in the Pittsburgh region and has experience representing clients in state and federal courts across Pennsylvania. Before entering private practice, Paul served as a law clerk to the Hon. Carlota M. Bӧhm in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Paul is currently admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Paul also has deep experience in the medical marijuana sector, where his efforts as an application consultant netted multiple firms operational licenses as dispensaries and grower/processors in several states.
Paul earned his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law, where he graduated with multiple honors, including the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence for his coursework in bankruptcy, and CALI awards for earning the highest grade among all students in Secured Transactions, Antitrust, and Healthcare Fraud & Abuse courses. Paul was also awarded for his outstanding oral advocacy in Duquesne’s appellate brief argument simulation. Paul is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, and serves as the Vice Chair of its Bankruptcy and Commercial Law section. Prior to studying law, Paul earned a business degree with a focus in Economics from the Duquesne University Palumbo Donahue School of Business.
Paul is a native of Montgomery County, Maryland, and currently resides in downtown Pittsburgh. He enjoys cycling, golf, and most other outdoor activities, and can be found around town at sporting events and music venues. When not in the city, Paul enjoys spending time with his family in Washington, D.C. metro area, or on his family’s orchard in central Pennsylvania.
